Member Posts > In the past, the village lacked any health center or hospital, compelling residents to undertake lengthy journeys to the nearest medical facility. This posed a serious risk to their well-being, as emergencies often went unattended, and many couldn't afford the associated expenses, resulting in unfortunate fatalities. Recognizing this critical need, Tukee Nepal Society initiated a health fund to aid the most impoverished villagers, facilitating their treatment in Dhadingbesi or Kathmandu.

In June 2011, we established a health center within the village, serving a population exceeding 9000 individuals with a dedicated team of four personnel. This initiative eliminated the need for arduous travel, enabling locals to access quality healthcare at no cost in close proximity to their homes. The facility boasts modern amenities, including a pharmacy, and marked a significant milestone in March 2012 with the birth of the first baby at the newly established health post.

The health fund remains operational due to a continuous influx of individuals requiring treatment and facing financial constraints. For severe cases beyond the health center's capabilities in Jyamrung, patients are transferred to larger cities, such as Delhi, where superior medical facilities are available, as witnessed in a recent case.

Tukee Nepal Society is actively seeking ongoing support for the health fund, recognizing the perpetual need to assist financially challenged individuals in covering healthcare expenses. Sustaining the health center in the village requires a monthly expenditure of EUR 1,000, encompassing staff salaries, equipment, and medicine. Future plans include upgrading the center for improved quality and services. Additionally, the organization aims to conduct health camps twice a year, addressing various topics like dental and eye care, immunization, wound care, hygiene, and nutrition. The participation of foreign volunteer doctors, nurses, midwives, or individuals from the medical field is crucial to augment the on-site staff and fulfill these objectives.
