Mr. Winn Karl was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in the projects of Cabrini Green. Shortly after spending almost 14 years in and around the city of Chicago he was able to move to the suburbs and start a new life while opening his own company at the age of 18. Mr. Karl made $150,000 dollars in his first 6 months of operation. Mr. Karl's brother worked for IBM for many years and previously tried to persuade Winn to become involved in computers and programming. Winn was not apt to do so because of his ear for music at such a young age. Mr. Karl took a job at a local radio station as part of his JTPA for school and liked being able to entertain. Mr. Karl captured a very large audience even though it was a 3rd shift position.
Mr. Karl worked in and out of the FM Radio market for 4 yrs. before finally calling it quits due to limitation on his playlist and incurred FCC fines. Winn finally went back to his brother and became involved in the programming field and technology sector. Mr. Karl learned to combine his new skills in technology while still pursuing his love of music. At the ripe age of 30, Mr. Karl stood up in the middle of an unfocused, demoralizing and doomed-to-fail project meeting in New York and said "I have had enough." He boarded a flight back to Chicago to his family and has focused on radio ever since. Winn's recently been called a radio "Mogul", but in reality started his most recent venture, Armor Entertainment (encompassing radio, television, and digital broadcasting), to counteract existing controlling media companies and FCC controlled politically correct, "clean version" music. Winn has taken Armor Radio Station (now known as W.A.R.S. Digital Broadcaster) to a whole new level with franchising radio stations.
