Rubicon is an action styled puzzle game which combines reflexes with color coordination. Think a cross between the hand held game Simon and the Atari game Pong. Primary action is set inside a 3 dimensional cube. A ball bounces from side to side providing the player inputs the correct action.
Rubicon is near completion, a playable version is already being tested. We need the funding to place final polish, additional 3D artwork, and another programmer to expedite completion. |

At Deviant Ware our business is video games and our mission is to create unique and compelling entertainment software. Why did we choose video games, because nearly 3 out of 4 Americans play video games according to NPD, a market research firm. Deviant Ware plans to take the video game industry by storm; with truly innovative content that breaks traditional genre barriers we will merge the diversified audiences and be able to reach a larger market base. Deviant Ware has placed a focus on digital distribution and episodic content; games will be downloadable through various sources: XBOX Live, Playstation Network, Windows Media Network, 3G Mobile Network, etc. Smaller projects which can be produced faster will offset the costs of larger projects. And by maintaining a small core staff, and contracting out remaining necessary services on a per project basis, Deviant Ware can retain valuable team members while at the same time keep staffing costs down, thus creating a maximized profit scenario.
Our first project, entitled Rubicon, is an action puzzle game. The objective of the game is to keep a ball inside a cube, by memorizing colored sequences. Rubicon will launch t on the Xbox Live Arcade. We hope to release by the end of 2009. As a company we have learned a great deal from this first foray into the industry and we are excited to be moving forward to our next project.
Project Social Worker is Deviant Ware’s next project. Social Worker is a tongue in cheek parody of Japanese style RPG’s. The game play is designed to be fast paced and strategic. Players will control the action of a team of psychically endowed teenagers tasked with various obstacles to overcome. We chose an RPG for our second project for several reasons; the first is that RPG’s are the 4th largest genre in the gaming industry. The second is that the genre lends itself to episodic content; imagine playing games like you watch television. With Social Worker we plan to release multiple episodes, and because these episodes are downloadable they will be smaller making them faster and cheaper to produce than their hardcopy counterparts.
Because we at Deviant Ware are making smaller downloadable games, we can produce them both speedily and inexpensively. Low price points on our innovative and appealing products ensure solid sales. Generating episodic content for our games ensures steady revenues from our popular IPs. By focusing on efficiency, flexibility, and new and emerging technologies while staying in touch with our consumers, Deviant Ware will open the doors to success. |
