Description: This course explored the links between the textual culture of modernity, the histories it produced and shaped, and the responses it generated especially in the 20th century. It mapped the ideological trajectory and shaping of the "Other" in literature and film.

Description: This course was an introductory overview of modern Anglophone and Francophone African literatures focusing on a broad range of texts straddling various genres in order to appreciate the dynamics and the significance of the African creative process
